I have never worked out before and/or I have an injury and /or am very overweight. Can I still join this boot camp?
Definitely! We specialize in providing challenging workouts at any level. In our boot camps, we have had a 65 year old working out next to a 19 year old and each one feels challenged at their own level.
As long as you get your doctor’s OK in writing that you can exercise, you can participate. We can modify our exercises to suit your individual needs. Make sure that you write down all you health concerns on your Health Evaluation form so are aware of your unique needs and can work them in to the workouts.
We also work in conjunction with your medical specialists to ensure you work out in a safe environment.
What kinds of people go to boot camp?
They are people just like you. Someone who needs motivation, someone who is bored with sweaty gyms and boring exercise workouts, someone who wants accountability for goals, someone who enjoys the camaraderie of a close knit group and someone who wants to educate themselves. Our boot campers are all shapes and sizes as well as different ages and this makes our camp interesting and fun.
What do I need to bring to boot camp?
You will need a mat or towel for the floor exercises and a pair of dumbbells (2-6kg for women and 4-10kg for men). You probably already have this equipment in your garage. If not, Kmart or Amart All Sports will stock them.
What should I wear to boot camp?
Something comfortable! We recommend a t-shirt and shorts. You want clothes that whisk away perspiration. Dress in a layered fashion…even if it is chilly, you will get warm fast. Don’t forget a good pair of running shoes – injuries can be caused by wearing the wrong type of shoes.
What exercises are included in the program?
We do everything from running/walking, weight training, core conditioning, abdominal work, calisthenics, plyometrics, circuit training and much more! Every session is different from the one before so you never get bored and you’ll get a complete workout each time.
Can you modify exercises for individuals?
Yes, we modify exercises if your back, neck, knees or shoulders are sore or previously injured.
Will I be sore sometimes?
Most people feel some soreness in the first 2-3 days. After that point, it is slight to moderate. It is part of the process that let’s you improve.
What happens if it rains?
All our venues have undercover areas with lighting so if it rains, we still train.
If I do direct debit, when will the direct debit payment be taken?
The direct debit payment will be taken on the first day of each new camp. The amount taken and what date is noted on your 2009 Boot Camp Calendar.
What if I have to go on holidays?
We can suspend your account for one boot camp but after that, the direct debit will resume at the beginning of the next camp.
What if I want to cancel?
You need to give us 14 days notice in writing if you wish to cancel your direct debit.
Are there any fees for direct debit?
There are no fees if you direct debit from a cheque or savings account. The only fee you would have to pay is if you use a credit card for your direct debit. It is 2% for Visa or Mastercard and 4% for Amex or Diners.
Can I pay as I go?
You can still pay as you go but due to the extra administration each month, it will cost more.
What if I miss sessions?
You are paying for a Boot Camp not individual sessions. However, if you do miss a boot camp session, you are able to make it up at any of the Health Guru Venues during that same camp.
Can I make up my missed sessions at the next camp?
You are not able to roll over any missed sessions to the next camp.
